10 Things Your Yoga Instructor Wants You To Stop Doing
Yoga is one of the best ways to connect with yourself and start your day on a happy note. However, there are things that you must avoid doing, and your yoga instructor will definitely agree with it. Yoga teacher and author of Fitness On The Go, Abhishek Sharma, tells us ten things that a yoga instructor wants you to stop doing.
Do Not Wear Socks Or Shoes While Doing Yoga
It’s important that you do yoga without your socks or shoes on. Let your nerves and feet feel the ground. Especially if you’re doing yoga outdoors, take off your shoes and socks. Be barefoot.
Don’t Play Music During Yoga
When you are performing yoga, you are connecting with yourself mentally and physically. So make sure you don’t have any music on while you’re performing yoga. It is okay, in fact, advisable to have music when you are at the gym but not during yoga. However, of you still want music, go for soothing or classical music that is conducive to yoga.

Don’t Skip Breathing & Meditation
Proper breathing and meditation go hand-in-hand with yoga. A lot of people don’t pay attention to how they are breathing while doing yoga. Some even skip meditation. You won’t see results if you skip these things.
Don’t Stop Chanting Om
Chanting Om soothes your nervous system and mind. A lot of people perceive it to be religious. In fact, chanting Om fills you with peace and positivity. It improves concentration, reduce stress and depression, and it also relaxes your body and mind.
Don’t Try Difficult Yoga Postures
Challenging yourself to complex and arduous yoga poses is a good thing but just doing those yoga asanas is not advisable. Some people think more difficult the yoga pose is, the better results you get. Even a simple yoga asana like Padmasana can give you good results. So practice all yoga poses with equal importance.
Yoga Is Not Just For Weight Loss
It is a common myth that yoga is just for losing weight. While it aids in weight loss, yoga is a healthy way of living. It cleanses your mind and your body. It improves your digestion and metabolism which result in efficient weight loss.
Don’t Turn Yoga Into Cardio
Don’t turn yoga into a cardio exercise. Go slow and take some time to finish your yoga poses. Concentrate on your body and breathing while doing yoga. Brisk walking or gym can take care of your cardio exercises.
Don’t Wear Synthetic Clothes For Yoga
Do not wear clothes which will make you uncomfortable. Pick something that is made of cotton or which is comfortable. Synthetic clothes can be worn in the gym. Comfortable clothes will help you concentrate and not get distracted.
